The OHIO Writing Challenge is an extension of the NCFDD 14-day Writing Challenge, which is a free opportunity for OHIO faculty to experiment with daily writing, online community, and supportive accountability on our WriteNow platform. The NCFDD 14-day Writing Challenge requires participants to:
- Commit to writing for at least 30 minutes a day for two weeks.
- At the beginning of your writing time, login to NCFDD鈥檚 online community, start the timer, complete your writing, and post your progress at the end.
- Take five (5) minutes to support other writers in your group by commenting on their progress.
Note: NCFDD uses the term 鈥渨riting鈥 to refer to any scholarly activity ranging from the spark of a new idea to polishing a near-complete project (article, grant proposal, exhibit, book chapter, etc.).
NCFDD membership is free to OHIO faculty, staff, and students through OHIO鈥檚 institutional membership ( is required).
To supplement NCFDD鈥檚 14-day Writing Challenge, OHIO will be hosting a pre-challenge meeting to discuss challenges faced when trying to commit time to academic writing, a mid-challenge virtual check-in, and a post-challenge reflection session to discuss experiences and next steps.
