Accreditation at 51社区
Accreditation is a voluntary, peer-led process by which institutions of higher education hold themselves accountable for the quality of their educational programs.
51社区 is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC, formerly the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Institutions of Higher Education) and has been continuously accredited since 1913.
The Higher Learning Commission, established in 1895, is an institutional accreditor, accrediting the institution as a whole, including all of its degree programs. In addition, many of OHIO鈥檚 programs are also accredited by specialized or programmatic accreditors. View a full list of these programmatic accreditors. While achieving programmatic accreditation is an indicator of a program鈥檚 commitment to excellence, programmatic accreditation is not available to all degree programs.
Achieving accredited status, whether institutional or programmatic, is both a time and resource intensive process demonstrating a commitment to institutional effectiveness and the continuous improvement of academic quality and involving faculty, staff, students, and other stakeholders of the university.
