Classroom Improvement Initiative Summer 2020-Summer 2023 Eszti Major-Rohrer Learning Spaces 

OIT in collaboration with the Classroom Taskforce, launched an initiative to refresh and reconfigure technology in centrally managed classrooms. The project involved a phased approach to ensure that classroom technology aligned with a 5-year lifecycle management plan. The first phase, completed during the 2019-20 academic year, focused on updating 70 classroom spaces across the Athens campus, including Bentley, Glidden, Gordy, Grover, and Morton halls. The improvements encompassed modernization, flexibility, and enhanced support for diverse pedagogical styles. The classroom improvement project has entered an ongoing operational state, with regular lifecycle refreshes in centrally managed rooms. 

Learning Management System Evaluation Project Summer 2022 - Summer 2023 Eszti Major-Rohrer Teaching & Learning Technologies OIT launched a request for proposal (RFP) to evaluate the LMS market and select a technology that aligns with the University鈥檚 needs. With support from the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost, OIT will engage students, faculty, and staff to clarify their needs and wants for the preferred LMS for OHIO. The desired outcome for this project is to establish whether the University should migrate to a new platform or continue with Blackboard and move all courses to the Ultra experience.
IT Service Management Enhancement June 2021 - June 2022 Jeffrey Wolfe IT Service Delivery & Support The IT Service Management Enhancement project implemented improvements to ticketing, change enablement, problem management, asset management, knowledge management, and the service catalog using the IT service management tool, TeamDynamix. The project resulted in the creation of the Technology Help Center, a single location for users to submit tickets, seek out help content, and view all services offered by OIT, enabling greater transparency, opportunities for feedback, and more responsive customer service.

 OIT added new security features to OHIO email and other key applications. All OHIO users, including alumni and retired faculty, are now required to use multi-factor authentication (MFA) to help prevent unauthorized access to University accounts and systems. All email accounts were also migrated to modern authentication, which is compatible with MFA and other advanced security features.

 To support FlexWork locations across campus, OIT configured standard technology in individual workstations, conference rooms, and collaboration rooms that enable OHIO employees to work from these non-dedicated spaces. Additionally, OIT implemented EMS, a scheduling software that allows employees to reserve FlexWork locations. 
Network Upgrade Project January 2018 - December 2021 Ken Bailey Internet OIT completed a massive, multi-year project that completely refreshed the University's wired and wireless networks. The work accomplished through this project increased connection speeds for both the wired and wireless networks and increased the reliability of our Wi-Fi coverage. This was accomplished through upgrading the core network, updating IP addresses, increasing fiber optic cable capacity, replacing wireless access points, and reconfiguring wired internet jacks.
OHIO Student Experience Assessment March - April 2021 Chris Ament, Neil Romanosky, Scott Titsworth   51社区 and OHIO IT partnered with to assess the student experience from application to graduation using campus surveys, workshops, and interviews. The results were used to inform future strategic efforts and identify areas for greatest improvement in the student experience.

Teaching & Learning Technologies

 OIT conducted a survey tool evaluation process that included a request for proposal (RFP) to better align the existing survey portfolio with the changing needs of the OHIO community and support long-term teaching, learning, research, and other information gathering goals of the University. The first part of the RFP was awarded to Qualtrics in February 2022. The second phase covered course evaluation tools, and the contract was awarded to Blue in September 2022.
Azure MFA Migration March 2022 - June 2023 Chris Hayes Accounts, Passwords, and Identity The Office of Information Technology has completely replaced Duo Mobile with Azure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), a more secure and user-friendly MFA application. Multi-factor authentication protects OHIO accounts from lost or stolen passwords by adding a verification step, most often a push notification to a mobile device, prior to logging into OHIO applications. Azure MFA is a Microsoft product, which aligns with other OHIO applications and brings additional cost savings to the University.
Blackboard Integration Updates May 2022 - August 2024 Eszti Major-Rohrer Teaching & Learning Technologies OHIO IT completed updates to Blackboard, as vendors replaced outdated technology for publisher content and add-ons. Some changes required instructors to rebuild course content or update links.
Go OHIO App Development March 2022-August 2023 Product Governance Board OIT Emerging Products Go OHIO is a web and mobile app designed to connect students to their OHIO experience, meet students where they are, and provide digital access to key services, important contacts, support, and information that help students succeed.
