Madison Koenig `15 served as the Research Apprentice for the "PD [Parkinson's Disease] Narrative Project," with Dr. Jenny Nelson, Summer 2013

Anne Sand `14, English HTC, was accepted to the Iowa Writer's program.

Michael Mayberry, English HTC, was awarded Provost Undergraduate Research Funds to finance his bike-across-America trip, which served as the fieldwork for a collection of creative non-fiction essays for his thesis.

Allison Hight '13 presented at West Virginia University's Humor in Literature and Film Linguistics Conference on her paper, "'Grammar' or 'Glamour': The Translation of Punny Humor in Japanese Tanka." Her thesis, "," won two accolades:

  • 1st prize for HTC Arts and Humanities at the 51社区 Research Expo
  • Dr. Joyce R. Durham Essay Contest ($500 prize)

Spenser Smith '13 won the English Department's Undergraduate Thesis Award for his thesis, "Male Identity in Young Adult Literature: The Application of Narrative Psychology to Literary Analysis"
