Academic Achievement Center (AAC)
The Academic Achievement Center (AAC) is here to help you succeed! We offer free tutoring and support services to help you build confidence, master tough course material, and find the best study strategies that work for you. Our friendly peer tutors are fellow students who鈥檝e taken the same classes and are ready to help you work through challenging topics at your own pace.
Peer Assisted Learning (PAL):
In addition to tutoring, we offer Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) sessions for historically difficult and large enrollment courses. These group study sessions are led by experienced peer leaders who can help you review material, tackle tough concepts, and prepare for exams in a collaborative environment.
Writing Assistance:
Need help with writing? Our writing tutors can assist with everything from brainstorming ideas to polishing your final draft. Whether it鈥檚 an essay, lab report, personal statement, or cover letter, we鈥檙e here to help at any stage of the process.
First-Generation Support:
We鈥檙e also dedicated to supporting first-generation students with programs and resources tailored to your unique needs.
How Tutoring Works:
- Tutoring sessions begin the second week of classes. You can schedule appointments as needed, set up weekly sessions, or join drop-in sessions鈥攚hatever works best for you!
- Visit the AAC website (ohio.edu/aac) to view the schedule, make an appointment, or learn more.
Tips for Making the Most of Your Session:
- Start Early for Best Results: Meeting with a tutor or attending PAL sessions early can help you stay on track and feel more confident as the semester progresses.
- Bring What You Need: Come with your textbooks, notes, and any questions you have. This helps the tutor or PAL leader focus on what you want to cover.
- Tutors as Guides: Tutors and PAL leaders are here to guide your learning, not to reteach material. If you鈥檝e missed class, be sure to catch up on notes and talk to your professor.
- Need to Cancel? No problem鈥攋ust let us know at least 12 hours ahead through TracCloud, so someone else can take your spot.
We鈥檙e here to support you鈥攏o matter where you鈥檙e at in your academic journey!
