Department of Athletic Training

Athletic training is a health-care profession specializing in the clinical diagnosis, immediate management, treatment and rehabilitation of acute, chronic or congenital musculoskeletal conditions.

Athletic trainers (ATs) are best known for providing health-care services to high school, collegiate, and professional athletes. ATs also work in performing arts, orthopedic clinics, industrial settings, the military, and hospitals.

Taught by a renowned faculty, the Athletic Training program at 51社区 has 50 years of experience in professional (entry-level) and post-professional education and has a nationwide alumni base.

Athletic Training Programs

  • Pre-Professional Athletic Training

To become an athletic trainer, students must complete a bachelor鈥檚 degree and apply to the Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program. We recommend the B.S. in Exercise Physiology: Pre-Athletic Training Track.

We offer an Early Assurance Program for outstanding high school seniors.

Students in the B.S. in Exercise Physiology: Pre-Athletic Training Track can complete the bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degree in 5 years with our Accelerated Graduate Program (3+2).

  • Master of Science in Athletic Training Program

The MSAT Program is a two-year program. Upon graduation, students are awarded a Master of Science in Athletic Training. They are also eligible to become nationally certified and state licensed.

OHIO's MSAT Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education. Additional details about this are available.

  • Athletic Training Residency

51社区 (OHIO) and (OHSM) jointly offer a post-professional athletic training residency specializing in pediatric sports medicine located at 51社区鈥檚 Dublin Integrated Education Center

This partnership combines the strength of OHIO鈥檚 history in athletic training education with the breadth of clinical practice experiences offered by OHSM, one of Ohio鈥檚 largest medical centers employing over 100 athletic trainers.

  • Doctor of Athletic Training

51社区鈥檚 100% online Doctor of Athletic Training (DAT) program prepares professionals for advanced roles in the dynamic field of athletic training.

With a comprehensive online curriculum, students have the convenience of pursuing their advanced degree remotely while acquiring invaluable skills in data-driven practices, clinical analysis, and research.
