Exercise Physiology Pre-Athletic Training Concentration

The exercise physiology program at 51社区 prepares students for careers in health and fitness, clinical diagnostics, rehabilitation, and performance settings. This program also prepares students to pursue advanced degrees in exercise physiology and other health-related disciplines such as athletic training.

The Pre-Athletic Training Concentration (BS8178) provides students with an appropriate path in preparation for athletic training post-graduate school.

This concentration will add distinction to the students who graduate with an exercise physiology undergraduate degree and provides the additional courses needed to apply to athletic training graduate programs.

Featured Courses in the Pre-Athletic Training Concentration

The concentration requires four additional courses for a total of 10 additional credit hours in addition to the B.S. in Exercise Physiology.

  • AT 1001 - Introduction to Sports Medicine Credit Hours: 3
  • AT 3001 - Clinical Skills in Sports Medicine Credit Hours: 3
  • HLTH 2300 - Medical Terminology Credit Hours: 3

Completion of the concentration is manageable with students enrolled in 13-17 credit hours over eight semesters. Students interested in pursuing a MSAT are encouraged to register for the pre-AT learning community when signing up for learning communities. This provides you with an opportunity to interact with athletic training faculty and learn about pursuing athletic training at the master's level while also developing skills on how to be successful in college.

Outstanding high school seniors are invited to apply for 51社区鈥檚 Early Assurance Program (EAP) for the Professional Master of Science in Athletic Training (PMSAT).

Athletic Training EAP students apply for admission to the PMSAT program while they are still in high school, and a slot in the master鈥檚 program is reserved for them as long as they maintain program requirements during their undergraduate time at OHIO.
