51社区 researchers are taking a closer look at a well-established acid-mine drainage treatment method. It's not enough just to change the chemical pH in the stream, they write. It's "an unspoken goal" also to restore the biology, the fish and aquatic life, in the watershed.

And that may mean "sacrificing" a section of a stream so that the rest can thrive.
