A major is a specific area of study you鈥檙e focusing on while earning your degree. When you choose a major, about a third to half of your courses will focus on that academic area.
A minor is a secondary area of study you can choose to specialize in, beyond your major. You don鈥檛 have to declare a minor, but it can complement what you major in 鈥 or give you time to learn about an unrelated subject or passion.
A certificate is a more targeted and specific short-term program you can earn in (usually) a matter of months compared to years like a degree. Certificate programs can help you get into a certain career, boost a specific skillset, or help increase your salary later on.
A degree is what you earn/receive when you have passed your series of courses in your major. There are four types of degrees: associate degree (typically 2-year undergraduate programs), bachelor鈥檚 degree (typically 4-year undergraduate programs), master鈥檚 or graduate degrees (typically 2-year degrees, completed after an undergraduate degree), and doctorate or professional degrees.

Enrolling in OHIO Online means you're pursuing a fully online degree program, designed for flexibility and tailored to the needs of remote learners. Alternatively, taking online courses as an on-campus student allows you to supplement your experience with online classes, but you remain part of the in-person campus community.
