How to Become a Member
Membership Categories:
Investigator: Exhibit an independent line of research in diabetes and demonstrate a commitment to the mission of the Diabetes Institute.
Affiliate: Open to all faculty, staff, and administration at 51社区 who are dedicated to educational programming, research, and/or clinical services related to diabetes or its associated disorders.
Membership is determined by submission of application and Curriculum Vitae (CV).
Membership Standards:
Requisites for Investigator Membership:
- Hold a faculty, research scientist or equivalent appointment at 51社区.
- Have published at least three peer-reviewed journal articles, with at least one of these articles being senior authored. Senior authorship is defined as corresponding author in the previous five years. Alternatively, the applicant must have secured external grant funding related to diabetes in the previous five years.
Requirements for Investigator Membership:
- Submit at least one extramural grant as PI through the DI (extramural grants must include indirect costs).
- Publish a minimum of three peer-reviewed journal articles related to diabetes with at least one of these articles as senior author. All Investigator members must show affiliation with DI in publications.
- Participate in a minimum of 50% of DI activities including seminars, meetings, and retreats.
- Submit annual metrics upon request.
- Note: Clinical Investigator membership is open to clinicians and follows the above requirements for membership with the following differences: (a) publish a minimum of one peer-reviewed journal article as senior author, and (b) submit at least one grant as PI, Co-I or Key Personnel.
Requisites for Affiliate Membership:
- Hold a faculty or administrative appointment at 51社区.
- Have contributed to diabetes related research, education, clinical or community programs.
Requirements to maintain Affiliate Membership:
- Participate in 2 DI activities including seminars, meetings, and retreats annually.
- Submit annual metrics upon request.
Requirements to maintain membership are required to be met every 5 years.
