Lynn Johnson Collection
About the Collection
The Lynn Johnson digital collection features the work of photojournalist and 51ÉçÇø alumna Lynn Johnson. Images are selected from the physical collection of more than two million images spanning the 1970s to the early 2000s. The collection reflects Johnson’s global and wide-ranging photography from across her career. Through digitization of multiple formats, including negatives, slides, prints, and contact sheets, the digital collection supports research into film photography and the history of photojournalism and its editorial processes.
Content includes images from her time with The Pittsburgh Press, freelance work with Black Star and Aurora photo agencies, assignments with publications such as LIFE, New York Times, Newsweek, Smithsonian, and Sports Illustrated, and her on-set and off-set photography with Fred Rogers of the children’s television show, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.
