Beverly is an associate professor in the Department of Primary Care at the 51社区 Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and the recipient of the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation Ralph S. Licklider, D.O. Endowed Faculty Fellow in Behavioral Diabetes.

Beverly graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Biobehavioral Health and a minor in Gerontology in 2008. She completed a five-year postdoctoral fellowship in diabetes at Harvard Medical School with the Joslin Diabetes Center in 2013.

Beverly鈥檚 research in diabetes focuses on understanding the linkages among psychosocial issues, self-care, and health outcomes. She employs mixed methodology to examine the culture and context of diabetes self-management in rural Appalachian Ohio.

Recently, she was asked to serve on the American Diabetes Association鈥檚 (ADA) Professional Practice Committee (PPC) to establish the national Standards of Care in Diabetes. Beverly will serve as the designated section lead for Section 5 of the Standards of Care, 鈥淔acilitating Positive Health Behaviors and Well-being to Improve Health Outcomes,鈥 deeming her one of the nation鈥檚 primary representatives for the field of behavioral diabetes. Through this work, Beverly will provide caregivers with the latest evidence-based recommendations for addressing psychosocial concerns associated with diabetes.
