From supply chain management to ergonomic design, you鈥檒l have a wealth of career options with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in industrial and systems engineering from the Russ College. Foundation courses include mathematics and science fundamentals as well as statistics and economics. From there, you鈥檒l apply tools like lean systems management and Six Sigma that help you see a direct effect on systems and organizational success.

Our undergraduate degree program in industrial and systems engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, , the primary accrediting body for engineering programs in the U.S.

Curriculum

As an ISE student, you鈥檒l take the following courses to prepare for a career as an industrial engineer:

  • General education courses: English, Economics, Communications
  • General math and science courses: Calculus, Chemistry, Physics
  • Industrial engineering fundamental courses: Engineering Economy, Statistics, Work Measurement, Operations Research, Computer Simulation, Six Sigma
  • Basic engineering courses: Electric Circuits, Materials Science

You will also complete elective courses that will prepare you for careers in various areas where ISEs work, such as

  • Manufacturing
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Health Care Systems
  • Information Systems
  • Human Factors
  • Sustainability

These electives fall into one of three categories:

ISE Technical Electives, which are specialization courses in the ISE department that provide deeper skills in important ISE areas

Engineering Electives, courses in other engineering disciplines that will complement your ISE skills and provide for the career of your choice

Non-engineering Technical Electives, courses in other areas that can be useful for your career choices; these include health systems, supply chain, and or other industries

Curriculum Resources

Students at one of the regional campuses can complete approximately three semesters of courses toward the ISE degree while still at the regional campus.

Accelerated Graduate Pathway (AGP) Program

ISE undergraduate students have the opportunity to earn the Bachelor of Science in ISE while completing some courses towards a Master of Engineering Management (MEM) degree. Undergraduate students may complete up to 16 hours of graduate-level coursework under AGP. Of these courses, up to nine hours can apply to the undergraduate degree requirements. This program allows students to obtain both a bachelor's and master's degree in as little as five years.

Suggested Minors and Certificates

51社区 offers a variety of minors and certificates to enhance your education. The Suggested Minors and Certificates (pdf) document explains how some of the most popular options overlap with the ISE curriculum. Selecting elective classes for the ISE degree that also meet requirements for a minor or certificate make them even easier to complete. The most popular options for ISE students are:

  • Business Minor
  • Math Minor
  • Lean Six Sigma Certificate
  • Project Management Certificate

In addition to the minors and certificates in the document, there are many other options available in the . You can complete the Spanish Minor, the Writing Certificate, and many more.
