Cristina Popescu, PhD, MA

Assistant Professor of Instruction and MHA Program Coordinator


Dr. Popescu joined the Department of Social and Public Health at 51社区 as an Assistant Professor of Instruction in 2019. She currently teaches undergraduate Health Services Administration and graduate Master of Health Administration courses, and serves as the MHA Program Coordinator. She earned her Ph.D. in Health Services Research and MA in Communication and Public Relations from the University of Florida (Gainesville, FL).


Prior to joining 51社区, she was a researcher and quality improvement manager with the Neuromedicine Interdisciplinary Clinical and Academic Program at the University of Florida, focusing on patient-centered quality improvement initiatives throughout the University of Florida Health System. Other professional experiences include evaluation researcher for the Florida Medicaid Reform Initiative, research fellow for the Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association, external quality reviewer for Texas Medicaid and CHIP, course instructor and teaching assistant in the Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Health Administration at the University of Florida.


Dr. Popescu鈥檚 professional interests include access to and quality of care among underserved populations, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement initiatives, community-engaged programming, and global health. Though currently living in Athens, Ohio, she considers herself a Floridian through and through.
