Physical Therapy Admissions Requirements
Eligibility
To be eligible for admission to the Department of Physical Therapy, you must meet the following requirements:
- A minimum overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 grading scale. The average GPA of recent classes has been approximately 3.6 to 3.7.
- The minimum overall Grade Point Average (GPA) and prerequisite GPA is 3.0 on a 4.0 grading scale. GPA will be calculated based off grades from completed course at the time of application. At least a 3.0 GPA must be achieved by the end of the Summer Term during the year of application. Overall GPA includes coursework from all undergraduate and graduate education. Prerequisite GPA includes all prerequisite courses.
- No prerequisite class with a grade lower than a C will be accepted (note: a C- is not accepted). All prerequisites must be completed at a US regionally accredited institution.
- While OHIO strongly encourages students to accept a letter grade for courses during the Spring 2020 term, we understand that this may not be an option for some applicants. As such, OHIO will accept all Satisfactory or Passing scores for prerequisites during Spring 2020 term only.
- While observation hours are not required for application, OHIO recommends applicants complete 40 observation hours across at least 2 different settings.
- The GRE is no longer required for application to 51社区.
- Non-native speakers of English must submit official results of one of two standardized tests: the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), as part of the application packet. English language proficiency scores older than two years are not accepted. Minimum TOEFL and IELTS scores can be found on the OHIO Graduate College website.
- Two letters of recommendation: Letters can be from a professor, employer, physical therapist, etc. One reference should comment on the applicant's academic abilities, such as intellectual promise, quality of writing, creative thought, and productive discussion, while the other should address the applicant's strength of character, with emphasis on the degree of maturity, leadership, integrity, initiative, discipline and concern for others.
