Global Development

Considering the organization of gender from a global and non-Western perspective:

  • The globalization of feminism
  • The relationship between feminism and colonialism
  • The connection of women's movements to national and revolutionary movements
  • Issues such as work/labor, sexuality, reproduction, and religion

Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies faculty and students explore how globalization has affected the social status of women, their economic resources, their rights, and their opportunities.

Courses such as WGSS 4900: Gender and Development in Cultural Context and CLWR 4900: Religious Traditions of India are offered in conjunction with Classics & World Religions faculty.
