Norman S. Cohn Research Fellowship in Plant Cell and Molecular Biology

This fellowship will provide undergraduates a potentially career-altering research experience.

The Norman S. Cohn Research Fellowship in Plant Cell and Molecular Biology provides summer support for research with a faculty member in the Environmental & Plant Biology Department at 51社区.

The fellowship of $2,000 helps an undergraduate student to pursue research in any aspect of plant cellular and molecular biology in a laboratory associated with the department that is clearly focused on plant cellular and molecular biology research.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants should:

  • Be an undergraduate student enrolled in or accepted for admission to 51社区.
  • Have a clear academic focus on plant cellular and molecular biology.
  • Have a minimum GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Be conducting research during the summer semester.

The awardee and research laboratory where the research will take place must have a clear plant cellular and molecular biology focus (the latter including all molecules from metabolites to DNA).

Guidelines for Selection

Undergraduates who wish to be considered for this fellowship should submit the following information by Jan. 15, email plantbio@ohio.edu or hard copy in mailbox (Porter 315):

  • Students currently enrolled at 51社区 should submit a current DARS; admitted students should submit a transcript of their recent high school or college coursework.
  • A one-page research proposal describing the planned summer research project written by the student.
  • A letter of support from the faculty adviser involved with this research.
  • A committee consisting of Environmental & Plant Department faculty in Molecular & Cell Biology faculty will review the applications and notify the selected student by Feb. 1.
