Electronic Media Courses

The Associate in Applied Science with a major in electronic media includes courses in digital media design, advertising and more. to see the complete major requirements.

Along with those who want a production-intensive education, high school graduates who wish further preparation in order to begin their college careers in the School of Media Arts and Studies on the Athens campus can benefit from the associate program. The program presents students with the opportunity to sharpen your skills before relocating to the School of Media Arts and Studies on the Athens campus. More than 90 percent of those students who complete the associate degree and then relocate to Athens secure a bachelor鈥檚 degree. (A 3.0 GPA is expected for relocation to Athens.) Others might wish to pursue the Bachelor鈥檚 of Technical and Applied Studies or Bachelor's of Communications Studies, or might immediately move into communications positions.

    Learning Environment


    The audio-video studios feature multitrack audio recording, radio operations, TV studios and digital video production and post-production equipment. PC and MAC labs give multimedia students the latest in software for graphic design and web development. The hands-on facilities, broadly based curriculum, and small classes, have proved invaluable for students who want to obtain a full view of the field of electronic media.

Program Admission Requirements

First-Year Students

Anyone who holds a high school diploma or has a GED certificate is eligible for admission to any 51社区 regional campus. Regional campuses have a rolling admissions policy which means that students may be admitted anytime during the year. Applicants will be accepted until class begins each semester. However, prospective students are advised to begin the application process as soon as possible so that they may be given important dates and deadlines in a timely manner. Freshmen applicants are encouraged to complete an online application for enrollment.

Transfer and Current OHIO Students

You are a transfer applicant if you have completed nine or more semester (12 quarter) hours at another institution after you graduated from high school. If you have completed fewer than nine semester hours, you will apply as a freshman applicant. To apply as a transfer student, applicants are encouraged to complete an online application for enrollment.
