Schoonover 206
Assistant Professor of Instruction, Bill Clack, grew up in Elmira, New York and rejoined the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism in 2023. Before embarking on a 15-year career in broadcast journalism and a subsequent decade and a half teaching the craft, Clack graduated from both Scripps (BSJ, Broadcasting) and from 51社区's Theater School (BFA Directing/Acting) in 1995.

After leaving Athens, he utilized skills conveyed by current journalism school director, Dr. Eddith Dashiell, to initially become the weekend sports anchor and then the chief reporter at the ABC-TV affiliate in Elmira, NY. Clack continued his on-air career as a television news/weather anchor in Clarksburg, West Virginia, a TV reporter in Richmond, Virginia and a TV reporter in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Interviewing a replenishing list of newsmakers, from local school board members to presidential candidates, occupied most of his journalism career. However, a personal highlight was reporting 30-plus hours straight from inside a category 2 hurricane.

While in Pittsburgh helping to raise a young family, he went back to school and earned a Master in Film and Digital Arts degree from Chatham University.  Clack transitioned into education in 2008.  He became the webmaster and the Media/Web services coordinator at the Pine-Richland School District outside of Pittsburgh, PA. Simultaneously, he was an adjunct professor at Robert Morris University. At both locations he taught filmmaking and television broadcasting to students.

Clack is an admitted superhero geek and passed the gene down to his two children. The three routinely catch the latest Marvel movie on opening night.
