Chris Redd鈥檚 first one-hour comedy special 鈥淲hy Am I Like This?鈥 premiered in November of last year and is currently streaming on MAX. He co-created and is set to voice a lead role in a yet-to-be titled project from Broadway Video and Audible, and stars opposite Eddie Murphy in the upcoming feature CANDY CANE LANE. Redd is the co-creator, writer, and star of Peacock鈥檚 scripted comedy series, 鈥淏ust Down鈥. He was a repertory player on NBC鈥檚 鈥淪aturday Night Live鈥 for 5 seasons.
In addition to acting and writing, Redd is a rapper and stand-up comedian who performs across the country and has toured the United States and Europe with The Second City Touring Company. He received the Emmy Award in 2018 for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for the 鈥淪NL鈥 song 鈥淐ome Back, Barack.鈥 In 2019 Redd released his debut stand-up album, 鈥淏ut Here We Are.鈥 Redd starred in the independent horror film 鈥淪care Me鈥 and can be seen in the comedy films 鈥淰ampires vs. the Bronx鈥, 鈥淒eep Murder,鈥 鈥淭he House鈥 and 鈥淎 Futile and Stupid Gestures.鈥 He appeared in the 2016 film 鈥淧opstar: Never Stop Never Stopping鈥 and opposite Kathy Bates in the Netflix original comedy series 鈥淒isjointed鈥 and was featured in the series 鈥淲et Hot American Summer,鈥 NBC鈥檚 鈥淲ill & Grace,鈥 Netflix鈥檚 鈥淟ove,鈥 TV鈥 Land鈥檚 鈥淭eachers,鈥 鈥滳omedy Central鈥檚 鈥淒etroiters鈥 and 鈥淐omedy Central Stand-Up Presents.鈥 He portrayed the character of 鈥楪ary Williams鈥 on the NBC comedy 鈥淜enan鈥 for two seasons.
Redd has also loaned his voice to many projects including Netflix鈥檚 鈥淏ig Mouth,鈥 Audible鈥檚 鈥64th Man鈥 and Disney鈥檚 鈥淪tar vs. the Forces of Evil.鈥 Additionally, he was featured as a 2016 Standup New Face at Just for Laughs in Montreal. Redd was previously a performer at Chicago鈥檚 Second City and iO Chicago.
