Career Opportunities

A bachelor's degree in journalism will prepare you for a career in any of the many facets of the field. You could work as an investigative, multimedia or print journalist. Other potential job titles include copywriter, editor, sports writer, reporter, public relations strategist and media relations specialist. Possible employers range from print to digital, including newspapers, magazines, publishing companies, radio and TV broadcasters, and mixed or online media. Students may also find careers in related fields such as public relations, research, writing, advertising and marketing.

Admission Requirements

  • Admission to the program as a freshman applicant requires successful attainment of a high school diploma, state-recognized high school equivalent or GED.
  • Transfer applicants must have a cumulative grade-point average of 2.0 or higher from all institutions previously attended to be considered for admission. If you have completed fewer than 20 semester hours or 30 quarter hours of university or college coursework, you must also submit your high school transcript for evaluation.
