A four-legged friend in need

At Counseling and Psychological Services, Outreach Coordinator Rinda Scoggan incorporates her certified therapy dog, Buddy, in sessions because the 9-year-old standard poodle is so 鈥減erson-oriented,鈥 Scoggan says.

Exposures and touchstones: Athens from behind a camera

鈥淥HIO Photo Renga鈥 unfolds as a series of interrelated portraits of Athens, Ohio, the campus and/or the city. This six-part photo essay is inspired by the ancient Japanese linked verse, renga, in which two or more poets alternate penning sections of a poem.

Sustaining sustainability at OHIO and beyond

The Office of Sustainability at 51社区 creates opportunities for students to contribute to eco-friendly projects on the Athens Campus. Oftentimes, students approach administrators with concerns but no solutions and become frustrated at resulting roadblocks.

Sweat work and legwork raised upward of $40,000 in February at BobcaThon, 51社区鈥檚 second annual dance marathon benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio. Green and White faithful put their best foot forward for up to 12 hours.

When it comes to teamwork, OHIO鈥檚 Marching 110 strikes up the band

In hindsight, it maybe wasn鈥檛 the best idea I鈥檝e ever had to try to write about 51社区鈥檚 Marching 110. My personal experience with the topic鈥擨 was in the band鈥檚 flag section from 1990 to 鈥93鈥攎akes it an easy topic to report on; but, being so close to the material makes objectivity challenging.

Bobcat and Sloan Visiting Professional markets teamwork

The name Jerry Sloan echoes throughout the hallways of 51社区. A 1959 graduate of the E. W. Scripps School of Journalism, Sloan taught in the E. W. Scripps School of Journalism from 1992 to 2001 and inspired countless students, including Dan Farkas, BSJ 鈥98, CERT 鈥98, MBA 鈥15, now an instructor of strategic communication at OHIO.

Zelalem Haile, assistant professor of epidemiology in the Department of Social Medicine at OHIO鈥檚 Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine at Dublin, relies on teamwork to advance global health; sexual and reproductive health; and maternal, infant, and child health.
