As another exciting year at 51社区 comes to a close, it鈥檚 time to reflect on the stories that resonated most with our Bobcat community. From groundbreaking achievements to inspiring people and unforgettable moments on campus, 2024 was filled with stories worth celebrating.

We鈥檝e rounded up the Top 10 most-read OHIO Today articles published in 2024鈥攁 mix of milestones, triumphs and moments that made headlines beyond campus. Whether you鈥檙e catching up or simply revisiting, these stories showcase the best of what it means to be a Bobcat.

What do Bobcats study most? This popular story highlighted 翱贬滨翱鈥檚 top majors, reflecting students鈥� interests, career aspirations and the University鈥檚 broad academic strengths. 

Former Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton visited 翱贬滨翱鈥檚 Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine students, sharing behind-the-scenes stories and lessons learned from navigating the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

翱贬滨翱鈥檚 online MBA in the College of Business continued to shine in 2024, earning top national rankings for its flexibility, innovation and student success. 

In 2024, the online travel site 鈥淔ar & Wide鈥� confirmed what we already knew: Athens is Ohio鈥檚 best college town. From Court Street to the Hocking River, this visual feature captured what makes Athens not just a place to study but a place to call home. 

2024 was a standout year for 翱贬滨翱鈥檚 medical programs as U.S. News and World Report recognized the University for excellence across multiple categories, putting it at the forefront of healthcare education in Ohio. 

This year brought big plans for on-campus living, as OHIO unveiled its vision to create even better spaces for Bobcats to live, learn, and thrive in their homes away from home. 

A historic $20 million gift from Jeffery Chaddock and Mark Morrow to 翱贬滨翱鈥檚 College of Fine Arts bestowed a new name on the college and promises to elevate support for students pursuing their creative passions.

Bobcats are on the rise鈥攈ere, there, and everywhere. OHIO saw another year of enrollment growth, with gains across undergraduate, graduate, and online programs. 

It鈥檚 no surprise that the biggest celestial event of the year made this year鈥檚 Top 10 OHIO Today stories, especially considering the path to view the total eclipse wove right through the state of Ohio. Astronomy Assistant Professor Tom O鈥橤rady of the College of Arts and Sciences鈥� Astrophysical Institute broke down the Whys and Hows of 2024鈥檚 solar eclipse.

It seems each day brings more breaking news on artificial intelligence. 51社区鈥檚 School of Media Arts and Studies in the Scripps College of Communication is helping students thrive on the frontlines of a creative revolution.

"[AI] is a tool set that is far beyond the scope of anything we have seen in human innovation to this point,鈥� school director and music industry Associate Professor Josh Antonuccio says in the story. 鈥�...That change will be across the board in creative industries."
