Applications open for Alternative Spring Break

As a part of the Go Local Series, the Experiential Learning Office is offering an Alternative Spring Break trip March 11-14. The Alternative Spring Break trip will be an immersive, interdisciplinary experience rooted in service to the surrounding community.

The program’s objective is to bridge the gap between students’ lives on campus and the richness of the life of the local community. Students will explore various topics including public service and civic engagement, conservation, environmental health, Appalachian history and societal issues. Service-learning projects with community partners will embed students in new communities, historically significant towns and non-profit organizations.

Lodging, transportation and food will be provided at no cost to student participants. Selected students will be asked to submit a $50 deposit to reserve their spot.
