New websites will highlight OHIO research, creative activity

51社区 faculty now have the ability to create and maintain their own OHIO-branded websites to highlight their research and creative activities.

51社区 has partnered with the OpenScholar platform to provide this new opportunity, along with training and assistance for faculty.

鈥淭his is another way we can showcase the research and creative arts at 51社区, and the impressive work of our students, staff, and faculty鈥 said David Koonce, interim vice president for research and creative activity and dean of the Graduate College. 鈥淭hese websites are designed to be easy to build and maintain, and we are hoping that faculty from all across the University will take advantage of this new resource.鈥

OHIO faculty have three OHIO-branded templates to choose from through the OpenScholar program 鈥 there is no coding or back-end web experience required to build and maintain these pages. The websites are available free of charge, and they will work in coordination with the website.

Built within the subdomain research.ohio.edu, OpenScholar websites allow for a stylish platform to showcase researchers, scholars, and the creative arts.鈥疶he website supports user supplied images and documents to showcase research projects, scholarship, and creative activities.

In addition, the websites are searchable, and publications are able to be uploaded easily. OpenScholar also provides one-on-one technical assistance and training materials.

These websites are not meant to replace faculty profiles on the current webpages; profiles will remain, and a link will be added pointing to faculty鈥檚 OpenScholar site from their profile, to create a more seamless experience.

OpenScholar has provided the following sample template options for OHIO faculty. These have been developed in partnership with OHIO鈥檚 University Communications and Marketing department. Each template is comprised of pre-built elements that are modern, responsive for mobile devices and adhering to University brand guidelines.

  • Eligendi -鈥
  • Meldrum -
  • Case -

OHIO faculty who use the new websites will also be able to request analytics on their sites.

In order to request an OpenScholar website, go to /research/openscholar and find the 鈥淕et Started Today鈥 section to begin the process.
