Regional student employment opportunities available to assist in community revitalization
Undergraduate students across 51ÉçÇø’s campuses interested in making the region and state a better place through their employment have a new opportunity through 51ÉçÇø’s Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service.
The school is currently seeking applicants to fill up to five positions as Undergraduate Research Scholars for the Mayors’ Partnership for Progress (MPP), a regional nonprofit dedicated to amplifying the voices of leaders in rural communities by sharing information and resources and unifying to confront shared issues.
Students selected for this position will work 10 hours per week during the academic year, with the potential for more hours during the summer months, through November 2023, with a pay rate of $15 per hour. The position could also be extended throughout the entire 2024 academic year. Much of the work may be done remotely, with occasional meetings in the student’s region.
The Voinovich School and its Undergraduate Research Scholars have provided the MPP with technical assistance and research for more than 25 years. This work will play a critical role in supporting 44 communities in 17 of the MPP-served counties. Students will be part of a larger team of professionals working to assist in a regional community revitalization planning effort.
Students will have a unique opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects through research and data collection, project support duties, meeting planning, event coordination, stakeholder communication and more.
