Automated income and employment verifications now available

University Human Resources’ partnership with Equifax now includes automated income and employment verifications for all current and past employees.

The Work Number, an Equifax service, provides 24/7 service, allowing employees and authorized credentialed verifiers to quickly and securely obtain income and employment verification for financed purchases, credit applications, housing applications, and more.

This service is free to use and offers a variety of additional benefits:

  • Efficiency: The Work Number is available to those needing your information 24 hours a day. No waiting for a lender or landlord to exchange paperwork with University Human Resources. Services are available on your schedule.
  • Privacy: All employees’ personal information is protected and personal data can be retrieved only by credentialed verifiers. An employee may authorize credentialed verifiers to retrieve income information by signing a borrowers authorization form, an application for a benefit (such as a loan or social service request), or by creating a salary key (a onetime access code).
  • Security: The Work Number database uses stringent security standards to help protect data. There are also controls in place by law (the Fair Credit Reporting Act) to help protect employee privacy.
  • Transparency: The Work Number service lets employees check to make sure their information is correct. The Employment Data Report (EDR) is required by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) so employees may see their information and documentation of who has been authorized to see that information.
