Kohei Miura Visiting Professorship at Chubu University applications are now open

51社区鈥檚 Chubu University Relations Committee is now accepting applications for the 46th Kohei Miura Visiting Professorship, named in honor of the founder of Chubu University.

Established in 1973, the Kohei Miura Visiting Professorship allows for an 51社区 faculty member to spend a semester in residence at Chubu University in Kasugai City, Japan.

The successful applicant for 2024 will be an 51社区 tenured or tenure-track faculty member who is able to be in residence at Chubu University either during the spring semester (early April through June 2024) or the fall semester (late September through December 2024). Round-trip transportation, housing, and a modest monthly expense reimbursement will be provided.

Kohei Miura visiting professors are expected to engage in an active program of scholarship that may include activities such as research activities, giving guest presentations in classes and seminars, conducting independent study programs with students and/or professors, participating in outreach activities, and acting as consultants in areas of expertise.

To submit an application, interested faculty members should send a current curriculum vitae and cover letter, addressed to the Chubu Relations Committee, detailing their interest in the position and current research focus relevant to this position by Thursday, March 31, 2022, to the Office of Global Affairs at globalaffairs@ohio.edu

Recent Kohei Miura Visiting Professors include Associate Professor Yeong-Hyun Kim, who is scheduled to travel in May 2022, Professor Benjamin Bates, Associate Professor Chris Thompson, and Professor William Condee. Please visit the Past Miura Visiting Professorship website for more information.

Assistant Professor Jacob Lee Hiler will serve as the 45th Miura Visiting Professor in Spring 2023. He plans to work alongside Chubu鈥檚 Business Administration and Management Synthesis department to conduct research, engage with Chubu students, and explore new academic programming opportunities.

The 51社区 Office of Global Affairs works closely with Chubu University to coordinate the Kohei Miura Visiting Professorship, as well as the Robert Glidden Visiting Professorship, which brings a Chubu University faculty member to 51社区 each year.
