Division of Student Affairs announces staffing transition

Patti McSteen, interim senior associate vice president of student affairs and dean of students, has announced that she will be leaving 51社区 in early February for a new role as the senior associate vice president and deputy of global campus safety at New York University.

McSteen, who has been a part of the Division of Student Affairs for more than 26 years, has served OHIO鈥檚 Division for Student Affairs in several capacities during her tenure. Among her accomplishments, McSteen created and chaired the Student Review and Consultation Committee and created and served as the director of the Margaret Boyd Scholars Program. She also recently re-formed the Council of Student Leaders as an additional way to meaningfully engage with student leaders across campus.

鈥淧atti has served in countless roles at 51社区, and throughout her time here she has consistently advocated for our students and has been a valued member of our University community,鈥 Interim Vice President for Student Affairs Terry Hogan said. 鈥淲e are grateful to her for all she has accomplished here, and we wish her well in the next chapter of her career.鈥

A transition plan is being finalized and will be announced prior to McSteen鈥檚 departure on Feb. 4, 2022.

鈥淲e are fortunate to have outstanding staff members in place in the Dean of Students office and Division of Student Affairs who will continue to lead our programs and provide critical support services to our students,鈥 Hogan said.

A three-time graduate of OHIO, McSteen received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Art Therapy, her Master of Education degree in College Student Personnel, and her Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education.

鈥淚 want to thank 51社区, all of my colleagues over the years, and most of all the students that I have been privileged to work with,鈥 McSteen said. 鈥淚t has been a pleasure and an honor to be a part of 51社区, and I will always be proud to be a Bobcat.鈥
