Nesic Ranked Among Top Published Researchers Worldwide

February 10, 2021

Dr. Srdjan Nesic, professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering in the Russ College of Engineering and Technology and director of the Institute for Corrosion and Multiphase Technology, has been ranked in the top 25,000 researchers worldwide in a 2020 article titled 鈥.鈥

The article, which was published by Ioannidis, Boyack, and Baas in an open-access journal, analyzed publication data from 1996 through 2019 and covered approximately 7 million scientists from all disciplines to calculate a citation score, both with and without self-citations included. The resulting database shows the top 100,000 scientists in all fields, plus the top scientists in various subfields.

In addition to being ranked in the top 2% across all fields, Dr. Nesic also was ranked in the top 1% in the field of Enabling & Strategic Technologies and in the subfields of both Energy and Materials.

鈥淭o be highly ranked in such a significant study that uses a composite indicator based on standardized citation metrics, including the number of citations, h-index, and co-authorship, is a real honor,鈥 said Nesic. 鈥淭his is even more so, given that the study was conducted by our highly respected colleagues and published in an open-access journal with the entire methodology being transparent and all data fully accessible. Actually, any time when one鈥檚 contributions to science are cited by fellow scientists is incredibly gratifying, as it reinforces the relevance of discoveries we are making.鈥

Of the 100,000 scientists on the list, 34 are current 51社区 faculty. Other Russ College faculty included on the list for being among the top-cited researchers in the primary subfield in which they publish are Dr. Tingyue Gu, Dr. Janusz Starzyk, Dr. Razvan Bunescu, Dr. Mike Brasch, and Dr. Bob Williams. Dr. Gu ranked in the top 1% in the field of Enabling & Strategic Technologies and in the subfields of both Biotechnology and Materials.
