51社区 Chillicothe Dean Marty Tuck announces retirement plans
Marty Tuck, who has served as Dean of the Chillicothe Campus since 2011, has announced his intention to retire, effective June 30, 2019.
鈥淚t has been a pleasure to serve the Chillicothe Campus as its dean for the past eight years and work with the very talented faculty and staff of the campus,鈥 said Tuck. 鈥淭he Chillicothe Campus is a strong institution which provides a quality educational benefit to the region it serves. I have also enjoyed becoming integrated into the Chillicothe and Ross County community during my term as dean, and working with the dedicated citizens of the community who care deeply about the quality of life in the region.鈥
As dean of the University鈥檚 Chillicothe campus, Tuck has been a leader in community engagement, acting as the current chair of the Executive Board of the Ross County United Way, as well as serving as a member and Past President of the Chillicothe Rotary Club.
Under Tuck鈥檚 leadership, the University increased endowed scholarship funding for 51社区 Chillicothe students, and, in response to student needs, he augmented the campus鈥 curriculum with the addition of Social Work, Accounting Technology and Medical Assisting Technology programs. He was also responsible for planning and designing the upcoming Academic Success Center facilities project.
William Willan, who serves as the University鈥檚 Executive Dean for Regional Higher Education, recognized Tuck for his many contributions to the region.
鈥淎s Dean of the Chillicothe Campus, Marty has set a high standard for promoting higher education and for community engagement. Working with local hospitals and businesses, Marty has increased access to 51社区鈥檚 programs for adult populations and played a key role in the Chillicothe community鈥檚 economic and social initiatives,鈥 said Willan. 鈥淗e also has been a key academic leader for the regional campuses both as a resource for faculty regarding promotion and tenure processes and as RHE鈥檚 representative on the University Curriculum Council. It has been my privilege, and that of the regional campuses, to have benefitted for the last eight years from the expertise that Marty developed in his many years of service, including his time in the Provost鈥檚 office.鈥
Before his appointment as dean, Tuck served as the University鈥檚 Associate Provost for Academic Affairs in the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost. A tenured faculty member of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences, Tuck plans to return to the department and teach as part of the University鈥檚 Early Retirement Program.
Executive Vice President and Provost Chaden Djalali will announce a plan for interim leadership of the Chillicothe campus at a later date.
