Webinar + Conversation: Advising Students with Depression
The NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising (NACADA) webinar, “When Students are Sad and Stay Sad: Advising Students with Depression” provides various approaches to potential situations advisors may encounter when working with students who are depressed.
Advisors are not counselors or therapists, but we are often the front line of defense when a student is in trouble. This webinar reminds us that depression doesn’t look the same in everyone and that advisors must be diligent in supporting students as they navigate through this new or recurring experience.
Assistant Dean of University College Advising and Student Services Ebony Green said, “I have been at OHIO for less than a year and in my role as Assistant Dean I’ve seen firsthand how devastating the academic impact of depression can be for both students and their families. I’ve also been able to experience the pride and joy of success when a student learns how to live through their experience and it’s reflected in their studies.”
Please join Advising and Student Services for a viewing and discussion.
