International Student Fund Awards
There are many resources available to help you fund your OHIO education. Aside from merit-based scholarships, you may be eligible for awards and fellowships, and in some cases, employment.
Charles J. Ping International Leadership Award
International Student and Scholar Services created this award in 2010 to recognize outstanding leadership by an F-1 or J-1 international student enrolled in 51ÉçÇø. This award is named for former President Emeritus Charles J. Ping, 51ÉçÇø's president from 1975-1994, to honor his support for international education and exchange.
President Emeritus Ping's leadership resulted in the expansion of international education at 51ÉçÇø. In 2016, a second category was added to recognize leadership and contributions to the international community by students who are not in F-1 or J-1 nonimmigrant status.
How to Apply
Application review and selection takes place during the Spring semester. You can learn more about the award and application process on the Leadership Awards site.
Ohio International Consortium Outstanding International Student Awards
The Outstanding International Student Awards have been developed by the Ohio International Consortium (OIC) to recognize international students who have become assets to the State of Ohio during their academic program. These awards recognize students who have succeeded academically, and successfully integrated into the fabric of their campuses and surrounding communities.
Two awards will be given annually, one for undergraduate students and one for graduate students. Sponsored by the Ohio International Consortium, the awards carry a cash value of $1,500.
Eligibility
Students who will graduate within the calendar year in which the application is open are eligible to apply (e.g., application opened Spring 2022 means students graduating at any point in the 2022 calendar year are eligible to apply). Students must highlight how they demonstrate the core values outlined by the OIC.
Primary Core Values

Cultural competency promotes tolerance, understanding and respect for a variety of cultures, domestic and international, and facilitates opportunity for interaction, communication and engagement.
