Medical Image Analysis

Medical imaging technology today can give us a less invasive picture of the health of areas of the human body. Researchers in our center study techniques for understanding and using biomedical image data from procedures like magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and CT scans.

Associate Professor Jundong Liu is conducting these ongoing research projects in medical image analysis:

Shape biomarker identification for neurodegenerative diseases

  • Studied cross-sectional variations and longitudinal changes of brain structures
  • Developed novel approaches; foundation Alzheimers Disease biomarkers
  • Collaborated with the U. Kentucky MRI and Spectroscopy Center

Small animal imaging for aging studies

  • Developing shape-based biomarker identification framework for micro-CT
  • Characterizing cross-sectional and longitudinal differences between varieties of mice (normal, long lived GHR-/-, and short lived bGH mice)
  • Collaborated with Edison Biotechnology Institute at Ohio U.
