Glass Cell Laboratory
A new addition to the Institute is a glass cell laboratory consisting of four glass cells in the standard three-electrode RCE arrangement. A fifth glass cell is located in a hood and is dedicated to performing CO2/H2S corrosion testing. Glass cells allow us to perform experiments on a small scale and much more quickly and inexpensively than in the large, multiphase flow loops.
This laboratory serves multiple purposes. It can help us identify interesting phenomena fast, it鈥檚 a training facility for students who are preparing to conduct corrosion experimentation in the high-pressure, high-temperature multiphase flow loops, it helps us troubleshoot problems in the large-scale equipment, and it aids in calibrating instruments and perfecting procedures.
