Patrick Fox
Dr. Patrick J. Fox is the Dean of the Russ College of Engineering and Technology at 51社区 (OHIO), with specialization in geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering. He obtained a Ph.D. degree in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Wisconsin鈥揗adison in 1992.
Dr. Fox has a broad range of expertise and published over 250 technical articles. He has won awards for research, teaching, and service. Research awards include the Arthur Casagrande Professional Development Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Thomas A. Middlebrooks Award (twice) from ASCE, IGS Award (twice) from the International Geosynthetics Society, Chandrakant S. Desai Medal and John Booker Medal from the International Association for Computer Methods and Advances in Geomechanics (IACMAG), the John H. Lumley Research Award from Ohio State University, and best paper awards from the Geotechnical Testing Journal, Geosynthetics International (twice), and the International Journal of Geomechanics (three times).
Dr. Fox served on the Board of Governors for the ASCE Geo-Institute (G-I) from 2014 to 2021, including as President of the G-I in 2020. He also served as Editor-in-Chief of the ASCE Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering from 2010 to 2015 and is a past chair of the G-I Technical Publications Committee. He currently serves as Editor for Geosynthetics International and the Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, and as Editorial Board Member for Geotextiles & Geomembranes and the International Journal of Geomechanics. Dr. Fox is a licensed professional engineer in Ohio, Diplomate of Geotechnical Engineering from the Academy of Geo-Professionals (AGP), and Fellow of ASCE.
