Dr. Stephanie Maccombs-Hunter received a doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision, as well as a Master of Education degree in Clinical Mental Health and Rehabilitation Counseling, both from 51社区. She is licensed in the state of Ohio as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with training supervision designation and a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor, and she is a nationally Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. Previously, Stephanie worked in a federally qualified health center with adults participating in medication-assisted treatment and local drug court programs. Now, in the Assistant Director for Outreach and Consultation role, she coordinates outreach and consultation programming for CPS, including the campus suicide gatekeeper training Bobcats Who Care, the counseling center鈥檚 campus liaison program, and social media messaging. At CPS, Stephanie additionally provides individual, group, and crisis intervention services. Her therapeutic style is integrative, incorporating aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing, while emphasizing personal strengths. Areas of interest for Stephanie include substance abuse and co-occurring disorders, college student mental health and well-being, rural and Appalachian culture, depression, anxiety, suicide prevention, integrated care, and outreach programming. Additionally, Stephanie was born and raised in Athens County and has extensive knowledge about the local community. In addition to her work at CPS, Stephanie is involved with teaching, scholarship, and leadership in the field of counseling. In her personal life, Stephanie enjoys music, visiting festivals and concerts, kayaking, and spending time with her friends, family, and pets.
